Aled the Robot page 4

When they arrived at the lake they were surprised to find out that someone was already there.  A glowing figure.  A boy's face on a metal body.  As they moved closer, he spoke.

"Do not fear me, I am Aled, a robot made by a man in the castle at the other end of the park."

Morgan was curious, "Why are you here alone, Aled?"

Aled answered glumly, "My owner programmed me to do work in the Grey Castle's garden.  He watches me now the lawn, prune shrubs and clean windows on fine days.  In the winter, I must polish floors and furniture.  I sleep in a box in the attic.  Before he wakes up I walk around the park, talking to the birds and squirrels.  I long to be as free as them.  I have to return soon, where he is keeping a hot air balloon he built.  I am planning on escaping in it, up to the valley mountain."

Meg had an idea, "I would like to see the hot air balloon."
